Simple and affordable - The Voices of Audio Artisan

Delivering studio quality vocal soundscapes to our customers

The Voices of Audio Artisan are a "for hire" recording ensemble backed by a team of skilled audio professionals who specialize in vocal sound design and choral soundscapes. We create custom vocal tracks, copywrite your works, engrave your scores, so they are "publish ready" and post them to ArrangeMe (a Hal Leonard Company), for download and licensing. We currently service two markets:

- Choral arrangements for composers and

- Musical theater librettists.

Our team is made up of experienced sound designers, musicians, audio and marketing specialists who work with you to breathe life into your composition and get it heard. The Voices of Audio Artisan have been featured in numerous award-winning projects and we continue to push the boundaries of choral and vocal artistry for our clients. You can purchase and download works we have posted for composers by searching for “Audio Artisan” on SheetMusicDirect.com

We have a cost-effective method for recording your choral in weeks not months.

Our vocalists record remotely, on their home studio equipment. Tracks are then consolidated into a choral soundscape by our engineers. In post-production, we can place the choir in virtually any setting and shape the dynamics or separation to meet your exact needs. This approach provides more flexibility and freedom to craft a cost-effective soundscape, in weeks not months.

All our singers are trained vocalists performing in major choirs throughout North America.

The Voices of Audio Artisan have been producing quality vocal recordings for over 10 years. We have a vast ecosystem of performers throughout North America, and the EU. All our singers are trained vocalists and have quality in-home recording setups, delivering CD or better quality recordings.

You select the number of vocalists per-part, the instruments and we do the rest.

Pricing is based on the number of vocalists requested and the complexity of the work. We can create a remarkable sounding vocal work with only four (4) performers. At the High end, up to 8 voices per part with continuum - piano, strings, harp, percussion, etc. - quality synthetic sound (VST plug-ins).

Our Awesome Services.

For over 10 years, Audio Artisan has been mixing and mastering vocal performances for regional choirs, composers, theater groups and soundtracks for film and Theater. We make the entire process simple, cost effective and you have full artistic control over the end product. We not only provide professional sounding recording, but also engraving services and Copyright filing assistance. All audio tracks produced by The Voices of Audio Artisan are the sole propery of our clients.

Step One - get a quote

Email us a PDF of your engraved work. Specify the number of voices per part. If there is an instrument accompaniment, you can have us create it synthetically or you can provide an instrument soundtrack and we will have the vocalists follow it. We will typically get back to you within five (5) days with a quote and delivery schedule. Payment terms are 1/3 upfront, 1/3 upon delivery of initial release and the final 1/3 when you are fully satisfied with the recording. Payment via Credit Card invoice.

If you do not have an electronically engraved of your work, we can engrave it for you. Just ask.

Once you agree to the quote and terms, you send us a MusicXML or Finale source file of the work/s.

Step Two - Approve reference tracks

Audio Artisan will professionally mix and master your recording and upload the resulting tracks to Dropbox™ as .WAV files so you can critically listen to, comment on and request changes. At this point, the second 1/3 payment is due. Upon receipt of payment, we upload the new version with your requested edits. This process continues until the work meets your expectations.

Step Three - Final approval

Once the track/s meet your expectations we embed Metadate within the .WAV and MP3 files. These are uploaded to DropBox for you to download. At this point the final 1/3 payment is due and your engagement with Audio Artisan is done until the next project.

  • Thomas Duffy, Yale University

“Audio Artisan met all my expectations on a very difficult project. The recording reflects my intent and allows the lyrics to resonate in today’s environment. The project was completed quickly, beautifully mastered and well within my budget. I look forward to working with them again.”

  • David Avshalomov, Composer - Singer - Conductor

“It was a pleasure to work with Peter Robinson and the voices of Audio Artisan. They were very flexible, even adjusting their normal parameters about minimum voicings and durations to make the project affordable and practical for me. This helped me complete a live studio recording that started some time ago. The mixed and mastered track his fine singers provided, matched my original work in sound, German pronunciation, phrasing, balance, and acoustic mix to make an aurally-match of the whole work - not a simple task at all. The work was quickly done with super-response. Overall, a good experience. I would recommend this outfit to any composer seeking a decent affordable choral recording with a quick turnaround.”

  • Judy Specht, Composer

“I have a high regard for Peter Robinson’s mixing and mastering skills. During Covid, I sent the score of my choir piece, Breathing, to him. Peter was able to compile 16 SATB voices, separately recorded, plus piano and cello, into a cohesive whole. The result was a beautiful demo that led directly to the publication of “Breathing” by a leading Canadian publisher. Thank you, Peter.

  • Richard Leinecker

"Audio Artisan gave me a fabulous recording of a piece that was difficult to perform and record. Peter did an excellent job mixing and respond to my suggestions. His turnaround time was fast, usually in hours. I am very happy with the service and have plans to get another project started."

"For our creative team at "Viral Dreams", Audio Artisan and their recording methodology was the right choice for us. They made the complex process of creating six new musical numbers look so easy. We electronically sent them our music and they worked with our remote vocalists to virtually record our "Viral Dream" score. Where corrections and cuts were needed, they were right on top of it. Audio Artisan managed the vocalists and had all the numbers mixed and mastered beautifully, on time and under budget.

  • Jack Gallagher - A Song of Joys

"Audio Artisan, led by inspired director Peter Robinson, assembled a superb ensemble of expert voices to record, elegantly and distinctively, “A Song of Joys” (Whitman) for SATB chorus. Mr. Robinson proved ingenious at coordinating, editing, mixing optimally, and mastering, brilliantly, the final result. He remained, at every step, patient and deeply dedicated to achieving a sterling realization. My experience was excellent and I hope again to collaborate with him in the future."

  • Devon Cliett - after

“The entire engagement process was relaxed, professional and rewarding. The initial release of my work with only one voice per part was, in a word, moving and beautiful. I quickly provided feedback on changes I needed, which were done to my satisfaction in quick order. Bottom line, they provided an affordable, excellent quality product that exceeded my expectations and I look forward to working with them on future projects.”

  • Ted Soggins - Christmas Cantata

"Audio Artisan kept me up to date on the project and the recording engineer was very easy to work with and his work is superb. The resulting cantata sounds live and in-person. The singing and playing are beautiful, so well done and very pleasant to the ears.

Audio Artisan are masters at choral recordings. I highly recommend then and hopefully will have more work for them in the future."

  • Brian Field - Lux Aeterna

"Wonderful and fast service. I sent along a SATB score and received the first draft recording a few days later; we did some rapid edits and tweaks to the recording (Peter was highly responsive) and completed the whole project within days. Great service and I recommend it!"

  • Timothy W. Duncan - Clarity

Over the course of my composing career, I have received many fine live performances of my music. Most were recorded, but often times the performances were not recorded well. As a matter of credibility, I needed recorded performances that met professional standards for musicianship and audio production. Fortunately, I connected with the Audio Artisan. A grant from our local arts council allowed me to fund new recordings of two choral pieces. My music requires rhythmic precision and consistent intonation. Also, my adventurous use of languages such as Sanskrit and asemantic texts presents real challenges for choral groups. The fine voices of Audio Artisan surmounted these hurdles with apparent ease and returned radiant - even revelatory - performances of these two pieces. I hope to acquire more recordings from Audio Artisan in the future and am building a funding campaign to make this possible. I highly recommend their services!
